Woodford Equity Income tops the tables on first anniversary

17th June 2015 – Woodford Equity Income fund has beaten all its peers in the year since it was launched.

Ranked 1st out of 86 funds in the UK Equity Income sector, the infamous Neil Woodford has returned 20% compared with a sector average of 9.5%*, and the 1.4% returned by the worst fund in the sector, Elite Charteris Premium Income, which features on the latest Chelsea RedZone.

Neil left Invesco Perpetual in 2014 to set up Woodford Investment Management. Woodford Equity Income was the first fund the company launched, attracting £1.6 billion in assets. This has since swelled to £6.2 billion.

Commenting on the first anniversary, Darius McDermott, managing director of Chelsea, said: “Neil Woodford is the most recognisable manager in the UK fund management space. His renowned ultra long-term investment approach has been tried and tested across a wide range of market conditions and has held up particularly well in tough markets. Neil was, and continues to be, the go-to name in the equity income space. Chelsea clients have been long-term fans, and those who followed him from Invesco Perpetual to his new venture have been well rewarded for their loyalty.”
