Kames Capital adds co-managers to its strategic bond funds

4th January 2016 - Kames Capital is to strengthen the management team of the Kames Strategic Bond and Kames Strategic Global Bond funds, with the appointment of two co-managers.

The move will see Juan Valenzuela become co-manager on the UK-domiciled Kames Strategic Bond fund alongside David Roberts and Phil Milburn. This fund has made regular appearances in the Chelsea RedZone, so it is hoped the additional resources will help turn around its underperformance.

Colin Finlayson will become co-manager with Roberts and Milburn on the Dublin-domiciled Kames Strategic Global Bond fund, with Valenzuela becoming support manager. Finlayson will also remain support manager on the UK version of the fund.
Valenzuela joined Kames in October 2015 from Alliance Trust, where he was an investment manager on their Dynamic Bond fund. Previously, he was investment director on the SWIP Absolute Return Bond fund.
Finalyson, who is also co-manager of the Kames Absolute Return Bond fund, has been support manager on the UK version since November 2011 and has been with Kames since 2000.
Speaking in his capacity as head of fixed income, Roberts says: “We hired Juan safe in the knowledge he possessed an excellent track record. Now we have seen his abilities in practice, we are comfortable formalising his role within our strategic funds and trust him to help Colin, Phil and I work with the team to generate added alpha and beta wins for our clients.”
