11 October 2024 — We have been informed by Jupiter of an upcoming change to the Jupiter UK Special Situations Fund. Effective 11 October 2024, the fund will be renamed the Jupiter UK Dynamic Equity Fund.
This change comes as Alex Savvides takes over as lead fund manager, following Ben Whitmore’s departure. The fund’s investment objective and risk profile will remain unchanged. The new name better reflects Alex’s long-standing investment strategy and aims to show that there is continuity with his investment management approach. Any changes made to the portfolio by Alex and his team will be made as part of the ongoing active management of the Fund and any associated transaction costs will be borne by the Fund.
Commenting on the name change, manager Alex Savvides said: “I am very excited to be joining Jupiter at this important time in its evolution. Jupiter has an illustrious history in developing and nurturing active investment talent and is one of the most well-respected names in UK asset management.
“Special situations and value investing underpin my investment philosophy. Whilst my approach to investing is not dissimilar to the strategy’s current investment approach – a highly disciplined and active style focused on undervalued UK companies – I believe we can build on this strategy’s legacy by blending in the proven stock selection, stewardship and engagement approach that I have employed successfully for clients over many years.
“The UK market offers considerable opportunities for patient, motivated and disciplined investors to produce good investment returns. I am committed to delivering to the best of my abilities for Jupiter’s clients.”
Ben Whitmore has decided to leave Jupiter to launch his own value equities boutique. He will be replaced by Alex Savvides on the Jupiter Special Situations fund who will officially arrive from JOHCM in the Autumn. Alex has a similar value-conscious style, seeking companies that have been beaten up by the market but are on the path to sustainable positive change. He has provided some of the best long-term performance of any UK manager over the past 20 years and is a positive appointment for Jupiter.
