Changes to Aggressive Growth EasyISA

5 October 2017 - Fundsmith Equity has replaced JOHCM Global Select and Fidelity American Special Situations has replaced Legg Mason Clearbridge US Aggressive Growth in the Aggressive EasyISA.

Commenting on the changes, Juliet Schooling Latter, research director at Chelsea, said: “JOHCM Global Select has had a hard time over the past 18 months. It remains on the Chelsea Selection, but we feel that, at the moment, Fundsmith Equity, which has been on the Core Selection for a number of years, would make a better contribution to the Aggressive EasyISA. Fundsmith Equity has consistently been one of the outstanding funds in the global sector outperforming its peer group by over 140% since it launched. Whilst it has undoubtedly had a style tailwind in its favour, we note that it has still beaten peers in the sector with a similar style bias.”

“Legg Mason Clearbridge US Aggressive Growth also remains on the Chelsea Selection, but we think it is becoming too large and there is a danger performance could be negatively impacted. Fidelity American Special Situations was added to the Selection list in October 2015 and is currently our preferred US equity fund. The manager has delivered strong long-term performance despite a slight value bias, which has acted as a headwind. The manager is pragmatic and has a proven process of buying into stocks which have fallen out of favour.”
