You can search for a fund in a number of ways. The first is via the “Search for a fund” bar. If you start typing a fund name into this bar, a short list of funds will appear. Continue writing until the whole name appears, or select from the dropdown list.

Or you can filter using the dropdown boxes. The “Product Range” filter will allow you to search  by Chelsea Core Selection, or Chelsea Selection.

Search for a fund filter

You can also use the “Chelsea Generic View B/H/S” filter to search just funds by our “BUY”, “HOLD” or “SWITCH” rating.

Or you can search by sector. If you are using the “Sector” filter to search for a fund, ensure that you have scrolled down to “UK Investment Association”, and choose your sector from there.

Search for a fund sector

Finally, you can search for a fund by using the “Fund provider” dropdown.

TIP: If the fund you are looking for does not appear within your search, you may need to widen the parameters and clear all previous filters. If you can still not find the fund, please contact us in the office, as it may not be available on the platform.

You can also filter by yield, if you are looking for a specific yielding fund for your portfolio.

Tabs

Price

  • Open? This will let you know if the fund is open for investment.
  • Bid/ Mid/ Offer If the fund is an Open Ended Investment Company (OEIC) it will have a mid price. This means that the fund has the same price whether you are selling or buying. If, however, it is a Unit Trust, it will have a dual price (bid and offer). The “offer” price shows what it will cost to buy, and the “bid” price is what you will receive if you were to sell your holding in that fund.
  • Price date. This will show you what date the prices shown relate to. Our website updates over night, so you will always see the previous days pricing, unless it is a weekend, or bank holiday.
  • Change. This shows you the daily movement on the fund price.
  • Yield. This shows the current yield of the fund.

Factsheet - you can download the factsheet by clicking “factsheet” at the far right hand of the row, for each fund.
Chart - you can use this to view more performance and ex-dividend date information on your selected fund. We will look at this in more depth within the next newsletter.

Fund Info
As discussed earlier, the Chelsea Generic View B/H/S can be filtered, using the dropdowns. If you have not filtered in this way, you can still see if we have rated the fund as a “Buy”, “Hold” or “Switch”.
We rate the top 400 funds, so if it is not a fund we rate there will simply be a dash to show this.

Performance (%)
This shows you the cumulative performance of the fund, so will show the performance from day one until the same day of the 5th year.

Discrete perf.
If, however, you would prefer to see the discrete performance, you can also look at this by clicking “discrete performance”. This will show, for example, the performance from 4th February 2010 – 4th February 2011, then the 4th February 2011 – 4th February 2012, and so on.

Calendar perf.
If you would prefer to see the performance on a calendar year basis, you can do so by clicking “Calendar perf.”. This will show you the performance from 1st January – 31st December.

Risk
Many of our clients like to know the “Chelsea Risk Rating” on the fund. This can be found by selecting the “Risk” tab. As is the case with “Buy”, “Hold” and “Switch”, we only rate the top 400 funds, and the risk ratings will only show for these. If they aren't rated, it will show as a dash. Standard risk information is also shown here.

Charges
Charges are really important when investing, and following the FCA changes clients can now keep an eye on how they are affecting performance, and how much they are costing them. The charges that show on are website are the fund manager charges. Whilst the Chelsea and Cofunds charges can be monitored on your account's Transaction History’s, the fund manager charge cannot.

Annual management charge (AMC) – the AMC is paid to a fund management company for managing the fund. It is calculated as a percentage of the value of the fund. The annual management charge is less than the ongoing charges figure (OCF).

Ongoing charges figure (OCF) – this cost includes the annual management charge and other fees such as registration, regulatory, audit and legal fees but does not include transaction costs and performance fees.

Documents
Before investing into a fund you should always read the Key Investor Information Documents. These, and other fund documents, can be found here.

TIP: You can also use these tools to research the Chelsea EasyISA, by selecting the Chelsea EasyISAs box to the right of “Select a Fund”.
