Change of name for some Artemis funds

12 January 2021 – Artemis has announced that it will be changing the name of a number of its funds that use the SmartGARP® investment process.

From 8th February 2021, the following funds will see their names changed as follows:

Existing name New name
Artemis Capital Fund Artemis SmartGARP UK Equity Fund
Artemis European Growth Fund Artemis SmartGARP European Equity Fund
Artemis Global Emerging Markets Fund Artemis SmartGARP Global Emerging Markets Equity Fund
Artemis Global Growth Fund  Artemis SmartGARP Global Equity Fund
Artemis Institutional Global Capital Fund Artemis SmartGARP Institutional Global Equity Fund

A change is also being made to the investment policy of Artemis Institutional Global Capital Fund to further clarify that the fund invests in company shares.

Investors in these funds need take no action - the way in which the funds are managed will not change.

Why is Artemis making these changes?

The funds listed above are all managed with Artemis’ in-house “SmartGARP” software tool, which screens the market to help the fund managers identify companies with the most attractive financial characteristics. The funds are still actively managed – before investing, the managers undertake further detailed research to ensure that the investment rationale behind a SmartGARP recommendation is valid.

Artemis believes that explicitly grouping the funds together by using “SmartGARP” in their names will help investors more readily identify those of its funds which are managed in a similar style with SmartGARP input.

Additionally, Artemis Capital fund is the only one of the funds which does not currently state its geographic focus in its name. Adding a specific reference to “UK equities” in its name will both ensure consistency and help to clearly differentiate the funds’ investment policies.
